1These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

Verse 1

These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour (time) is come; glorify thy (your) Son, that thy (your) Son also may glorify thee:

  • We look at where and who Jesus directed his attention, his focus to; in that he lifted his eyes to God; this is an intentional placement of self before God, letting all know (in flesh and in spirit) to whom he is speaking. Furthermore, this gesture of eye placement shows those around him, his Disciples, where the Kingdom of God is located, and the access we have to it is as simple as looking up and speaking to him. This is direct communication. We have the blessing to communicate directly with God, just look up and talk to him.

  • We look at the purpose for which Jesus prayed. To fulfill the purpose of glorifying God. It was never about becoming renowned for oneself, but rather Jesus being placed in a position where God can show the world the glory of who he is through him. Jesus understood he was a human vessel, a divine spirit, an anointed being for all creation to look upon and see the wonderfulness, the beauty, the lovingkindness, the grace, the peace, the mercy, and the love of God's heart in the flesh toward them. This was done so that creation through the image of Jesus Christ would come to glorify God. We must understand who we are as creations of God, our purpose in being designed to live a life of divine morality, ethics, and virtue so that God can glorify himself through us. We were not created for self-gratification, God created us to the delight of seeing versions of himself living in the anointing of his holiness, so that others who may not believe may come to know that he is real through us.

  • Definition of glorify: To give glory, honor, or high praise; exalt; To give glory to, especially through worship. We must also look at the root glory, which is great honor, praise, exaltation, and distinction by common or general consent. Summary, the glorification of God for all humankind is deciding that it is holy and righteous for each of us to come together to present ourselves as living vessels, so that we all may partake in adoration, praise, and thanksgiving to God in the act of worship (expression of reverent love, devotion to a sacred object) on one accord.

Verse 2

As thou (you) hast (have) given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou (you) hast (have) given him.

  • Definition of power: The ability or official capacity to exercise control, authority, or influence. Where the flesh is weak, where Satan uses the flesh as a gateway to enter our hearts to turn us away from God, when under the authority of Jesus Christ, he becomes our strength to resist the wickedness of the devil. Jesus controls the very thing that Satan desires to attack. With our flesh (the human nature that desires the iniquities of the world) under the power (control, authority, and influence) of Jesus Christ, the Kingdom of Heaven becomes our shield and protection, the Spirit of God shines the light of glory within us, removing the dark, and allowing the righteousness of God to take precedence over what the flesh (human nature contrary to God nature) desires. Living under the control, authority, and influence of Jesus Christ is God's love and protection for his creation.

  • When we read this verse, we come to understand that Jesus Christ is the salvation (preservation or deliverance from destruction, difficulty, evil, and the penalty of sin; redemption) of God for humankind.

  • This verse sums up the presence of Jesus Christ, the purpose of God anointing us with his divine presence. JESUS CHRIST CAME TO GIVE HUMANKIND ETERNAL (lasting, continuous, always existing) LIFE (the physical, mental, and spiritual experiences that constitute existence).

Verse 3

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee (you) the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou (you) hast (have) sent.

  • This verse is the precise definition of what Jesus considers to be eternal life. Life eternal is a state of divine knowledge, a blessed knowing of the holy truth that THERE IS ONLY ONE TRUE GOD AND HIS BELOVED SON JESUS THE CHRIST.

  • Definition of know: To understand as true, be aware of, be acquainted with; To perceive directly or as familiar; To grasp in the mind with clarity or certainty; To regard, recognize, or distinguish as true beyond doubt. Life eternal is being blessed with a mind and heart that come to understand and comprehend the nature of God and his Son, Jesus Christ.

  • Any other god is a falsehood, a human ideology derived from the True God and his beloved Son, Jesus Christ, and then made in the image of what the flesh, through the spirit of division, needed to see itself being connected to. Because of the fall of Lucifer and his inability to see himself as a reflection of the True God and the Beloved Son, he created on earth false images of gods (himself) to establish his dominion and power. If one were to look at the layers of the false god, there would be a foundation of divine truth, telling of the True God by whom he sinned against and fell short of the glory, never to return. Satan's creation of false gods is to pull humankind's hearts away from the True God and Jesus Christ to worship him. We must remember Satan desires to steal, kill, and destroy the glory of God within us and upon the Earth so that he can claim it for himself. This was his sin when he was in Heaven, and this is his sin upon Earth, to see himself better than the creator of all.

  • In this verse, Jesus tells us his place of origin and who sent him. So now we know the "five W's" regarding Jesus. He was sent to earth by God from the Kingdom of Heaven, given power over the flesh (human nature) to glorify God his Father, and bring salvation to humankind by giving them life eternal through the knowledge of divine truth of the Only True God and his Beloved Son, Jesus Christ.

  • Jesus Christ: The divine human and spirit, the duality of the human being living as God intended when he created the man and the woman. A sanctified restoration of love for salvation. A real-time image/reflection of God, testimony of the Kingdom of Heaven, infallible proof of their existence. A righteous example to teach and show humankind how to live virtuously, in morality, aligned with the Word of God, in the divine nature of holiness, which is the true self

Verse 4

I have glorified thee (you) on the earth: I have finished the work which thou (you) gavest me to do.

  • If this is Jesus's purpose, what then is humankind's? TO GLORIFY GOD UPON EARTH.

  • What does glorifying God upon Earth do? It puts the man and woman in right standing with God and his first commandment given to them in the book of Genesis to be fruitful and multiply (his glory) upon Earth. It establishes holy authority over the wicked, proclaiming the goodness of the Lord, and defeats hell. Glorifying God is living in the ordination of sanctification and Heavenly purpose.

  • Understand the finished work. It's not about the accolades of the world, the wealth we store up in the physical; it's about the work of glory we do in the spiritual. When we stand before God on judgment day, his concern will not be what we did to build up the entities of the earth, but rather his discernment of our hearts. His looking into the secret places of our hearts to see if we really, truly love him, and if out of that love did we serve our holy purpose in truth and in spirit, bringing glory to his name, his throne, his Kingdom of Heaven.

  • Right now, the world, the government, and humankind are in misalignment with God. Living in continuous misalignment will inevitably bring about the righteous indignation of God upon Earth. The trespasses of humankind against God must change now. It is our God-given duty as the chosen of God to finish the work of glory he has given us to do. You do this by looking up to God, submitting your heart to him, living under the authority of Jesus Christ, and allowing his Holy Spirit to guide you in every way to the glory of God. This is a task well done to the good and faithful servant.

Verse 5

And now, O Father, glorify thou (you) me with thine (your) own self with the glory which I had with thee (you) before the world was.

  • The glory I had with you before the world was. Humankind was always with God the Father before he created them in human form. Human beings were in his mind and heart, in his spirit, in the Kingdom of Heaven. Before God put his plan into action, a plan of righteousness, humankind was closest to him because they were literally within him and one with him.

  • Our prayer for self and others should be that God, in all ways, glorifies himself through us.
